I had a very difficult experience with this company. My bathroom remodel turned out okay but there were problems with my install. If I hadn’t stayed on top of it, it would still not be fixed. When I reviewed on Yelp, the owner didn’t apologize or take responsibility for my poor experience, he basically blamed me. And denied there were any issues. I saw on other Yelp reviews, he did the same thing. I wouldn’t even have made this review on Google accept I have received no less than 7-8 emails “reminding me to leave a review “. What good is a review if the company just defends their mistakes and makes it seem like I have nothing else to do other than leave bad ratings. I usually only leave good ratings but since the emails haven’t stopped I’m leaving this one. Thank you for reading. All I wanted to make my review a 4 star was an acknowledgment and an apology.

Since this ended up being a lengthy review, I decided to cut and paste the main issues at the very beginning to make sure this was seen by everybody. This post on google comes a couple of weeks after I posted the same review on yelp. Since, the owner replied on yelp stating they had photos that proved the floor was damaged prior and would send them to me, which I never received (because the floor was never damaged, it was new). He also made a very poor attempt to schedule an inspection via text message through his assistant. This company has a serious communication issue, uses text message instead of more personalized phone calls.
Putting the communication issues aside (read below) for nearly $15k just for countertops, one expects perfection and flawlessness. After all the dust settled and everything was cleaned up, the flaws came to life. There were several areas where the caulking was horrible, even one spot behind the stove they didn't caulk at all. They didn't repair the wall behind the refrigerator where they tore off the old tiles. The vines didn't match up over one major area above the stove. There was cracked tile in the corner near the window. My dishwasher was no longer flush with the countertop. And finally they scratched the heck out of new flooring when moving the stove.
This was my first home renovation thus I spent a lot of time getting quotes for many different companies. Many of the companies had negative comments so my decision boiled down to 1 overall cost and 2 service. This company was not by any means the cheapest, but I balanced it with not feeling pressured and harassed daily by the sales person to make a decision. David was very patient with all my questions and back and forth. I had two quotes, one for the bathroom and one for the kitchen countertops. Due to the cost of the bathroom, I choose to start with the kitchen first and decide after on the bathroom. Very smart decision to make as I will for sure never do another remodel with them.
Communication with this company was ridiculous. I was told it would take about four weeks to start. Five weeks later I called to check-up and they said we have you scheduled for demolition (two days later). I was like ok thanks, when did you plan on notifying me and she said usually the day before. (Wow). Demolish day came and finished and several hours later, unannounced another guy shows up needing to take measurements (second time for measurements). I was told it would take approximately three days before they come back to install the new countertops. After four days I called again and they said no, we don't have you scheduled until next Thursday (that's nearly two full weeks later). I expressed my frustration and disappointment with their serious lack of transparent communication and she said she would address it with management. Instead of getting a call from someone, I received a ridiculous long text message from David my salesman explaining that he never said "three days" from start to finish yet "three days in the house". He went on to explain about how I should have paid a higher price because he measured incorrectly- which was totally irrelevant and was his fault for measuring incorrectly, not mine. In addition he made me feel it was my fault for the "miss-communication" on the timeline. It was totally unprofessional to send a text message like that. With little notice, I had another call do come do measurements (third measure) and they took some fitting paper for the sink as well. The next day, again with little notice they want to send someone out to pickup the entire sink (why couldn't they have taken the sink the first time). After the first day of install, another guy came out to measure AGAIN (forth measure). I finally had my countertops fully installed the following Friday (no working kitchen for two full workweeks). I had to take FOUR personal days off of work simply because they couldn't properly schedule and communicate any timeline. (The rest of the review was moved to the top)

I recently hired Calbear construction for a home renovation project, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results. From start to finish, their team was professional, attentive, and dedicated to delivering high-quality work.
Communication was excellent throughout the process. They kept me informed at every stage, and any questions or concerns I had were addressed promptly. The project was completed on time and within budget, which was a huge relief.
I highly recommend them for any construction or renovation needs. Their combination of skill, professionalism, and customer service is truly impressive. I would not hesitate to work with them again!

We chose CalBear out 8 other companies. They sent a young man named Joseph and what my husband and I were impressed with was that he was very knowledgeable of everything that we needed done in the bathroom. He was not pushy or trying to get us things we didn't need. The whole time tool 4 weeks but it was a total gut job. They never tried to raise the price. The construction men always cleaned up when they were done for the day. Amanda was great. The communication was key. KRISTINA is amazing she always kept me in the loop of when they were coming and times. She has wonderful customer service. KRISTINA is a sweetheart. So we will most definitely be using them again! Please check out before and after pics. Thank you!!!

My family and I are so happy with the outcome of our condo upgrade. We decided to replace our flooring throughout, replaced baseboards, removed a pocket door in our master bathroom, and added some custom shelving to my closet. The whole team was wonderful to work with! The price was unbeatable! Everyone was reliable, responsive, and professional. They truly helped make our place feel like home! Thank you so much, Cal Bear 🙂
