It's unfortunate that companies such as AHS entice customers to sign up for warranty plans, offering incentives like your Refer A Friend promotion. However, when a friend is referred, it is so incredibly difficult to then get your supposed reward. I signed up in November and referred my niece a month or so later. Your promotion clearly states that both of us would receive a $100 Amazon gift card. We only received $25, and when my niece attempted to redeem her card, there was only $7 on it. We spoke with a representative in your member resolutions department who assured us that the information was now correctly input in your system and that we would receive our rewards soon. To this date, we have received nothing. AHS needs to act in good faith on their promotions. As such, I will hesitate to refer anyone else.

AHS is very good with assigning a company to fix whatever problem you’re having.

Buyer beware! With this company (and possibly all warranty companies) there are some surprises you should know about! I pay $200 per month for my home warranty insurance. If anything stops working you pay $150 for a service call, you cannot speak with anyone until you put a credit card in for the service call. They do come out pretty quickly for the service call. But the whole system is set up to fix your appliances not replace them. All my appliances are >20 years old. They still come and order 4-8 pieces of the engine, heating element, fans...whatever parts went bad due to old age. Sometimes they need to wait weeks for these parts because they are hard to find for such old machines. Then they come and get the dinosaur going again. I have a rental house with two apartments under warranty. I have at least one appliance die every year. I spend over $2000 on monthly premiums and pay service calls as well and literally NEVER get a new appliance. If you think this service will replace your ancient appliances when they give out you are most definitely wrong. The cost overall would pay for new appliances several times over each time when one gives out. If this is what you are looking for than you have found your magic bullet. It is a gigantic scam in my opinion.

Waste of time and money. During the past year-and-a-half, AHS’ pattern has been to take our money each month then avoid repairing/replacing what needs fixing. When our thermostat stopped working, we had to threaten to cancel our membership before they would fix it and it took two visits and two different techs to finally get it replaced. They couldn’t figure out a recurring leak in our bathroom sink. Finally fixed on third visit. Three different visits, three different plumbers. They said the leaking hairline crack in base of a toilet was “misuse and abuse” so they wouldn’t fix it. How, exactly, does one “misuse and abuse” a toilet? They kept making up excuses to avoid repairs so we canceled. We do not recommend AHS.

I’ve been an AHS customer since 2019, paying ever-increasing premiums for worthless service. Now, in freezing February temperatures in NW, Indiana, they’ve left me without heat, hot water, or a stove due to gas leaks from parts THEY installed in 2020.
My gas was shut off Tuesday until a licensed contractor repairs and pressure-tests my pipes. AHS dispatched a plumber who doesn’t even do this work, then wasted hours of my time on hold while refusing to send a qualified contractor. Three days later—nothing.
I’ve spent $279 on space heaters and insulation, lost work as a commission-based salesperson, and am struggling to keep my pipes from freezing. To make it worse, I discovered AHS installed my furnace backward!
AHS is beyond incompetent—they are negligent. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. They will take your money and abandon you when you need them most.

I was very happy with the entire transaction. American Home Shield contacted the company to look at my central heating unit and they came out the next day and found out that it was my blower. He had to wait until the next day to get a part to replace with the newer blower, but arrived on time and had it repaired with no problem. The technician was friendly and professional and really did a good job.
