While AHS is efficient at collecting monthly premiums and service fees, their commitment to delivering timely and reliable support falls far short. In my recent experience, they assigned a contractor (Myers AC) who appeared more concerned with adhering to internal policies than responding to the urgency of the situation. I remained available for nearly the full 76-hour window after submitting the service request—aside from a brief 3-hour period due to work obligations and caring for a child with special needs. Despite this, AHS failed to provide a vendor who could deliver AC service within the necessary timeframe.
I explicitly communicated that the lack of air conditioning was impacting my child’s health, but that concern was met with indifference.
To make matters worse, a customer service representative assured me that a new vendor would be assigned and that I would receive a follow-up call by the end of the day. That call never came. Instead, I had to spend nearly another hour on the phone trying to reconnect with customer service. When I finally reached an escalation agent, I requested contact information for AHS’s corporate office and was flatly denied.
There was no meaningful attempt to resolve the issue or accommodate the situation in good faith. The entire process reflected a lack of empathy, urgency, and accountability.
For anyone considering AHS for home warranty coverage, I strongly recommend exploring other options. Protect your time, finances, and peace of mind by choosing a company that values customer care and follow-through.

I had a pool pump and dishwasher both denied. The pool pump was denied because its not at total failure yet,. So I have to listen to the pump scream all day until it blows up. Dishwasher was denied due for NOT normal wear and tear items. Yet the policy states no coverage due to normal wear and tear. Does this even make sense? They took my deductibles and my monthly payments and didn't even offer a refund. FULL DISCLOSURE I HAVE USED THEM FOR 20 PLUS YEARS AND HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY. ALL ICAN SAY IS BUYER BEWARE

Do NOT use AmericanHome Shield. They work with vendors that have the worst reviews in the area. I recently had an issue with my refrigerator, and they assigned it to a company called Astro Appliance in Houston—just check their reviews, they are some of the worst you’ll find. Absolutely terrible service. They clearly don’t know what they’re doing, and after over a month, my refrigerator is still not fixed. Avoid this company at all costs.

The repairman was very friendly and acknowledgable. He didn't mind the question I asked.

Alas, Jack from Appliance Yikes! said my washer was beyond repair. Shortly after he left my home, I received follow up emails from AHS with instructions and options for a new machine. I selected the one with $0 extra cost and I am very pleased it the replacement. Delivery was within a week and they removed my old washer. The delivery people were professional and timely.

Extremely Disappointed with Service - A Health Hazard for My Family
I am beyond frustrated with the way my case has been handled by this company. Our AC broke down on March 25, and the compressor needs to be replaced. Despite repeated calls to customer service, (they say they will call me back but they never did!) we have received no clear answers or urgency. I explained multiple times that we have a baby in the house and the indoor temperature is reaching 83°F, making it unbearable and unsafe.
On March 28, we were told that the necessary parts would not arrive until April 8—over two weeks from the date of the breakdown. This is completely unacceptable! Living in Las Vegas, the extreme heat is a serious health concern, and I’m deeply worried about the well-being of my baby, who could be at risk of serious health issues. Yet, all we’ve been told is to "wait."
The lack of urgency or even basic concern for our safety is incredibly disappointing. This is not the service I signed up for, and I will not be renewing my contract. I strongly advise others to think twice before signing up with this company. If you value your family’s safety and well-being, look elsewhere.

THIS REVIEW IS INTENDED FOR AMERICAN HOME SHIELD and not the plumbing company. AHS repeatedly denied my claim even after a second opinion by ignoring their own Limitations and Exclusion policy to stretch another provision of their policy and fabricate another reason why my claim is denied.
My water heater needed replacing and because the tech said there were items missing from the system set-up. I was not aware that the system was not proper, as I bought the house that way and it worked fine for 24 years until it leaked. I was not aware of this BECAUSE I AM NOT A PLUMBER!. And their exclusion specifically said that they DO PAY pay for repairs if you were not aware that the system was installed wrong. Well that aint true, because they will just find another clause or provision to override that one to deny my claim altogether.
