We had the perfect beautiful looking and perfect condition bathtub/shower. Unfortunately, the flex pipes needed to be replaced by copper pipes.
We called Bath Fitter Edmonton and explained what we needed, she told me that Bath Fitter are experts in plumbing and installation and will send a sales rep to discuss what we needed and wanted.
So Jag the sales rep came from Edmonton office, we live in Wetaskiwin, so it is an hour away from Edmonton. After telling him what we needed and since we were adamant that the plumbing be replaced by copper pipes and that is the only reason we called Bath Fitter. Since we knew that the pipe are behind the wall and had to break down our beautiful tiles. He convinced us that the acrylic surround wall last longer, is cheaper than tiles and with much pressure sold us a new bath and surround acrylic walls and assured us that the plumbing will be done by professional plumbers.
Since the quote was over $11,000 for a basic bathtub and shower, we questioned him on the price quoted. His reply was, well you know that plumbers are expensive. He was here for many hours and was arrogant when we told him that we needed to think about it since it is a more than we expected and wanted to get other quotes. He turned a bit more friendly, and gave me his scarf he was wearing that I said when he came over “love your scarf”!. Under pressure and intimidation, fast talking, some BS and giving his guarantee that we will be 1000% happy with the work they do we signed the estimate! Big mistake!
On Feb 27, 28, 2025The installation was horribly done, shower leak, glass door frame scratched, no shower head (they said it is back order, really, we order it in November 2024!) caulking done like an amateur, door seal cut and crappy installed, installer didn't even know what side the door frame had to go and mad that he had to switch it over, he wanted us to access our bath next to our vanity that a 3 year old would not fit through, damaged our walls, door frame, floor, ceiling, vanity, outside siding, and shower leaks!
To our shock and horror talking to the installer we found out that the he is NOT a plumber and after seeing the horrible installation, we were and are extremely concern of the plumbing installation. If the installer can’t do simple caulking, and, the hardware attached to the plumbing is not even centered, how can we trust the plumbing! The whole job took 2 complete days!
Do not believe the bathtub being installed over existing bathtub as they advertise, they took our perfect condition bath and replaced it with a cheap acrylic bath! Someone may get our old perfect condition bathtub!
In addition to the horrible installation, the installer broke our outside siding, scratch our laminate flooring, big damage to our vanity, damaged door frame, ceiling, wall, baseboards! Bath Fitter only offered to pay for the broken siding!
After many calls and texts, we got the service manager come over to inspect the installer work. He came over and really didn’t want to see all what the installer did and said that he saw the pictures and will re-do all the work and check out the plumbing. After finding out that the first installer is not a plumber, I asked the manager, are you a plumber to which he replied no and the changing of the plumbing pipes to copper pipes no need to be a plumber. Remember, they are charging us certified plumber rate hidden in their quote as bathtub total cost of $7,649.00 for a basic simple bathtub! Total cost $11,359.95.
Confused and extremely concern for our plumbing, sent a fax to request cancellation and to return of our deposit. She refused and gave me the blah blah blah of contract signed, we do not have a contract, just an estimate and had 30 days to cancel! Well we signed the estimate Nov 20, 2024, installation done Feb 28,2025, way past 30 days! She again assured us that Josh will re-do everything and everything will be to our total satisfaction. We ask what they will do with the plumbing since that was the main reason for calling Bath Fitter, she said that Josh will replace all the pipes according to Jag’s sketch he gave. Again, ask how can Josh change the pipes when he is not a plumber? Replied that no need to be a plumber, he can do it, we’ve done many times before!
yesterday searching on the net found out that NO! Bath Fitter installers are plumbers and they can only do small plumbing such as changing the hardware but NOT plumbing pipes! Also, by law, they can NOT allowed to perform extensive plumbing work such as changing the plumbing pipes that requires a certified plumber!
Do not trust them, check out BBB, all reviews, ask for their up to date plumbing certification, licenses, contractor liability insurance and WCB!
