ADT not honest at all. We moved twice had them come with us to each place. We move a lot. But they said we wouldn't have to pay for certain things and we did and they raised our bill by $75. Now we moved again and don't want to have their service anymore since we don't need it where we moved to. They are saying we were told it was a three year commitment... Now why would I sing a three year commitment if I have already moved twice in two years? They never told us about the three year commitment. They are saying they did so now they are charging me like $1600 to cancel. After already over charging me. I highly recommend looking into a more trustworthy company. Very disappointed

Use to work for them. They are a major sales force for ADT. They use "Protect Your Home" as the name, but sells out of a company called "Defender". Confusing right? But either name you see whether ADT, ProtectYourHome or Defender, run fast as you can. They are scammers and use deceptive sales techniques to trick customers into paying high cost for trashy service and products. We were literally told to lie to the customers to get them to have a tech come to there home and once their you are basically harrassed to high heck to buy each and every product they have whether you need it or not. Scare tactics, high pressure selling, omitting of information, yoy name it they will use. I say try another company altogether. What they do should be illegal.

I would NOT recommend an ADT security system. Instead of buying a newer home security company, I thought I would spring for a centralized company with a representative who could customize the system for my needs. After spending over $2,000 with a required 2-year contract, I was sold equipment that the service team knew would not work for my house. For example, I was told the motion detector wouldn’t be triggered by a small dog. Yet, my 20lb dog set off my alarm when he jumped on the sofa. The service team later told me they don’t work with dogs…but the sales team assured me it would.
In addition, I told my ADT sales representative that I wanted a doorbell that was hard wired and not rechargeable. I had to hire an electrician to install the ADT doorbell wires only to find out the doorbell they sent me wouldn’t work. When ADT service returned, they explained that I was sent the wrong one and needed the “wired” doorbell not the rechargeable doorbell they sent. When we asked the ADT’s sales department was asked why I wasn’t sold the wired doorbell, they said they didn’t have a SKU number for wired, and instead of telling me, they just sent the other doorbell instead.
The worst part is ADT’s archaic system does NOT integrate with one app on my phone. So now I have an app to open my garage door, a different app to turn on my alarm, and yet another app to see who is at the door. They also sold me a main control panel for the alarm that will not work with 5G internet speed, only the slower 2.4G speed. I wanted one system, one app and one home panel.
Costco was running a special for ADT and I totally trusted Costco. It turns out the ADT sales team was charging me a third more than the Costco price. ADT is outdated and archaic. I would NOT recommend ADT, save your time and money and go with a newer self-install company.

Truly awful customer service. They make it incredibly simple to sign up, but completely impossible to cancel. They raised my price twice despite having a 3 year fixed price contract. 2 Hours on hold when I called. Then they lost everything and hit me with the same unchanged bill. This company makes Comcast look good... and that's saying something!!

After ADT agreed to our lower price for a year (bc of system problems we had). Yet they jacked my rate an additional $28 a month after 2 months of the low rate. I waited on hold for 70 minutes to cancel my service and before I can finalize the cancellation- it hangs up on me. No one calls me back. Now I need to wait again on hold to cancel this service. Horrible. What companies like this don’t realize is that we’ll never come back if you make it this hard to cancel.

I've had ADT for two years and the video camera is so slow that by the time I get the text from the camera the delivery is dropped off on my porch and the person is already by back in his truck. I called and they said they would send me a new camera, then they didn't and the battery was dead and beeping for two weeks until they sent a replacement. I told customer service about this and they said that they system was still working good enough for you to pay full price. Shanta (customer service) was very rude on the phone. I would not recommend this company. Use comcast instead.

I run a business with three locations and have ADT at all three. At first everything seems to be great they are timely with visiting you and PROMISING the best security. Truth is their systems are faulty very often! Then you have to waste time contacting them which all of a sudden is very hard! Then you'll need to request a tech which was always 3+ weeks out! My system that isn't working and is suppose to help protect my business and you're telling me three weeks when you'd come over night to sell me the system.
Service is very very bad after they make you sign a contract. If you continue with ADT good luck they don't treat you well.

First I signed up with ADT who I have had in the past because renting I was able to get a deal. These scammers overcharge for the buy out and then put you in a 3 yr contract. I was told they would only handle my account for the first 30 days and it would be transferred to ADT. Nope a year later they are still handling my account and the service is horrible. I have had to have my unit replaced and my camera will disconnect on there own. Its frustrating when you try to check on your house and the cameras are not connecting. They don't send the police when the alarm goes off. I am just buying out my contract and moving own. I hear Simpli Safe is awesome.

One of the worst companies I have worked with. I am surprised ADT chooses to partner with a third-party like this. I was quoted one price over the phone and it wasn’t until all my installation was completed that my price suddenly changed. That came to light during contract signing. At that point they called their manager and made some adjustments. The fact that they would be doing a switch like that was already frustrating. Since being installed I’ve had to call multiple times for issues with my alarm system issues with the rebates they failed to send. Was not able to get a rebate sent to my email directly after multiple calls until after my rebates expired. Frustrating is an understatement. After 9 months of service I had to move. They let me know that the contract I signed was for the house I was in. Transferring service cost $107 installation fee, a $25 unhook fee, and forced me to renew a new two-year contract with ADT. I was lied to multiple times by multiple people.
Will consider canceling when I talk to them tomorrow. I may just pay $300 or so out of spite at this point to cancel my contract. Again some of the worst service I have ever seen. I will be thrilled when the day comes that companies like Comcast are able to put them out of business by bundling with all their other services.
Do not do business with these people.

The worst experience we ever had. We moved into our house a few years ago and got ADT immediately because my parents had it. We got installation for free and only paid monthly. We ended up canceling because my wife got a new job where her new company provided home security. After she led that job we tried for ADT again and spoke to rep who then sent a 3rd party (Defenders) to our house making us think it was all through ADT. So the guy was very nice but he was a salesman and tried to sell us everything and said the total would be 1600. So we said no never mind. The guy insisted that he would just do the regular alarms on windows and doors. And said we can cancel in 72 hours which we told him we are going to do. So after he left we canceled the next day but had to wait for ADT/Defender to call us back. Meanwhile they charged my account for a month worth of security. In a not shell after reading this short story. ADT lost me as a customer and I hope someone reads this before signing up with ADT security. We went with Ring and were happy!
