We started our process with Blue Raven back in May. Initially we were offered a standard solar install that did not use the solar panels when the grid went down. This was not acceptable. We kept pushing and then was offered a product called "Sunlight Backup". This system using the panels for backup when the grid is down but only during daylight hours. This system was not recommended because it required isolating certain circuits to prevent overload issues. After several more months we were finally offered a 10K solar backup system to match the 10K solar output. I still was not satisfied so I finally got the Residential Rooftop Solar Permit Package. It provided a lot of information about the solar panels but limited information about the electrical system. Fast forward to November and we finally got our solar system installed. Unfortunately this did not start off well. The solar panels were installed on time and the crew was great. However, the electrical system that manages and monitors everything was started but delayed for 4 days. None of this was the fault of field technicians that installed the components. It was a lack of communication from the management team. First of all I had our electrical panel replaced. The field technician that installed the panel did a great job but when I told him we had battery backup he was surprised because this was not communicated to him and he would have done the job differently. This issue surfaced when the 2nd field technician came to install the electrical system. I told him what the first field technician told me and he spent the first 4 hours trying to figure out the logistics of the system. Neither field technician was the issue. The issue was a lack of communication from management. They depend on independent inspectors to take pictures and measurements to evaluate the system requirements. Unfortunately this approach has a major flaw in that the inspectors do not have the technical skills to really evaluate the final system configuration. If a Field Engineer would have evaluated the site requirements in person most of the issues that field technicians had would have been identified. Our system was started on a Monday and was not finished until the following Friday. Really poor planing. The execution and knowledge by the field technicians was outstanding. Now I am waiting for the final inspection. This system has an app to monitor the solar system. I have requested information about the app but no reply. Holding my breath to see when the final system will be inspected and signed off.

BRS thus far has been great to work with. Their design and permit applications went quickly, and most of the waiting has been for the power company or the AHJ. Once we received approvals, they were quick to get me on their schedule within a couple of weeks. The morning of the install the crew arrived 30 mins early and got started quickly. Within 5 hours I had a complete new solar system installed and commissioned and ready for final inspection. I was blown away by how well Levi led his crew and how Kyle and Andy worked quickly and professionally to get it done quickly and get it done right.
When I started the process I pointed out to the salesman providing the quote and to the on-site inspector that my electrical panel was already full. They made sure to document this and the engineers accounted for it in their plans by utilizing tandem breakers. Andy knew what was needed and was able to easily integrate the solar double pole breaker into my existing panel without need to upgrade my panel or adding a sub-panel. He also was able to place the conduit and new switchgear exactly where I was hoping they would.
I still need to wait for a final inspection with the county and then final approval from the utility company to connect, but feel that BRS will be on the ball as they have been to get me connected quickly! Each time I've reached out to ask a question I was able to get a hold of the right representative and got my questions answered.

Everyone I worked with from Blue Raven (the Sales Rep., Accounting, Scheduling, and Team who did the installation) have been very courteous, patient, and thorough in their explanations (of terms, scheduling, work being done). I would recommend this company based on my experience.

Everything has gone like clockwork from sales all the way through to the installation. The installation crew was fast and efficient and were great about explaining everything to me. I really appreciate the good service and especially Blue Raven handling all of the scheduling, permits and inspections. It has been a very good experience.
