My experience with Empire Today was a positive one, weakened only by paranoia after reading horrible reviews.
Jeremy Esters was my flooring consultant. He arrived at my house the morning after I called to make an appointment. He was very kind, informative, and helped me pick a good flooring product to replace the old nasty rugs and linoleum in my house. I wanted something that my animals would have a hard time destroying. We went with LVP. Jeremy explained that it was waterproof and very scratch resistant. It has a lifetime warranty and I also bought the 5-year protection plan in case my animals or I destroy it somehow.
Robert and Mike and one other worker showed up the next afternoon to start the job. They Worked rapidly all the way till about seven o'clock at night and then came back the next day (today) with a fourth helper. The four of them worked together and finished the entire job by about 8:00 tonight. It only took them two days to remove all my old carpet from my dining room, living room, two bathrooms and hallway. They installed the luxury vinyl planks in all those spaces as well as my kitchen and laundry room. They did an amazing job and everything looks great.
The bad part of the story came between the time I agreed to the job and the next afternoon when they started the job. It was nothing that the company did or that any of the workers did that created a problem. The entire problem was a result of me going on Yelp and looking at reviews for this company. There were so many horrible reviews of people saying that they had gotten scammed. I started freaking out and called Jeremy to let him know. He was able to call me down and he gave me the number of the customer service to talk to other people. I actually got so freaked out that I called to cancel the job. Fortunately, the person that I reached on the phone was very knowledgeable. He confirmed that everything Jeremy had done and said and promised was absolutely correct. He also confirmed that my extended warranty covered absolutely anything and everything for 5 years. He also called the installers and let them know that I was thinking of canceling. Since he calmed me down so much and seemed sincere, I decided to go ahead and move forward with the job. Shortly after that, the workers arrived and they basically were bending over backwards to accommodate all my wishes. It seems like my paranoia paid off a little bit! The workers and the company were very earnest about doing an excellent job. I really felt taken care of. Robert was wonderful and communicated very well to me. He said he wanted to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted. He also told me that he would treat my house like his own and do his absolute best, which he did. I would also like to mention that near the end of the first day I asked Robert if he would be back the next day and he said, "Only if you request it". I immediately called the company and told them that I wanted the same crew. If I hadn't done that, this probably wouldn't have gone so smoothly. I definitely suggest that you do the same (if you like the crew that comes on the first day). I am very happy with my experience and I am looking forward to many, many years using these LVP planks. I can't tell you anything about longevity of the materials or customer service for problems with the flooring because I haven't had any of that happen yet. However, the customer service that I received when I was freaked out was excellent. Each person that I spoke with was kind and reassuring.
