Avoid Renu Solar – Misleading Promises and Poor Follow-Through

If you’re considering solar, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere before signing with Renu Solar.

When we signed up, they promised substantial energy savings. We’ve had our panels for over a year now, and the actual performance is nowhere near what they projected. Instead of cutting our electric bill, we’re essentially paying for two—our regular utility bill and the solar financing—with no real return on the investment.

They also said two trees on our property would be removed to improve sunlight exposure. Later, they changed course and told us we’d have to cover the difference in cost between their preferred (and overpriced) vendor and any other option we found. Their vendor quoted nearly double what we could get elsewhere, which felt like a bait-and-switch.

Even worse: their communication is appalling. Once the system is installed, good luck getting a response. It’s taken repeated calls, emails, and texts to get any attention. They were responsive while selling the system, but that quickly evaporated once they had our signature.

Bottom line: Renu Solar overpromises and underdelivers. Between the poor customer service, unmet expectations, and unexpected costs, this has been a frustrating and expensive experience. Please don’t make the same mistake.

Jacob Moore was phenomenal in sales and engineering, patiently walking my wife and me through how solar works, making everything clear and approachable. Just had my roof done by Renu Solar & roofing and I am extremely pleased with the quality of the crew and the materials. They were professional from start to finish. Finished the roof in one day and cleaned up all the old shingles and debris left my house looking beautiful. I would definitely recommend this company if you're looking for a new roof and or solar panels.

Earlier this year I received an email that said if I referred someone and they took the interview I will receive 50 bucks. Also if the person I referred hooked into a contract and received her panels I would receive $1,000. I just want to say thank you r e n u for my $1,050. I had solar panels installed by RENU, and overall, I am very pleased with the service and quality of the product. While it did take some time to complete the installation process, I appreciated the team’s thorough inspection of my roof, ensuring it was in excellent condition for the panels. The installation itself was seamless, handled by a competent and professional crew who respected my home and kept me informed along the way. The quality of the panels and inverters is top-notch, which gives me confidence in the system's long-term performance.

After installation, I received prompt technical support from RENU whenever I had questions, which has been a huge plus. I also enjoy the convenience of tracking my energy generation and consumption through the mobile app—it's easy to use and gives me great insights into my solar performance. Overall, RENU has met my expectations with their high-quality products and customer service.

I had my roof replaced by the roofing department of Renu Solar in January. The process went well until I reported damage in my ceilings including stress cracks, damage in my garage, and outside damage. I reported the damage to (*****) the person in charge of the project. Calls weren’t returned and I was later informed that he had quit abruptly. I was asked by (*****) to be patient as that included a lot of backlogs with pending work. She acknowledged my email that had pictures of all of the damages. I obliged understanding the hassle. I reached out to (*****) about two months later since I never got a return call or email regarding the update. She then explained the backlog but said she would look into my repair ticket. After about a month of more inactivity, I reached out again and she referred me to (*****) who was in charge of the damage ticket. We spoke and he promised a solution and that he would follow up. I haven’t heard from him since august despite my phone calls and text messages. I spoke with (*****) in September explaining my frustration and being ignored and she advised me that wasn’t the case and would reach out to the parties previously mentioned to have them get in contact with me. Still no response. I spoke with her again a week later and was given second hand information that some of the damage was not responsible by them. Still no direct call email or text message. The representative the advised me to speak with a manager after a week passed with no response. And guess what, no response from the manager. I have been ignored and disregarded as a customer for about 10 months now. Giving them time and grace to rectify the damages turned out to be my biggest mistake. No calls returned. No messages returned. I will not tell anyone to use or not use their service but i will share my experience with as many people as necessary in hopes this does not happen to another customer or potential customer.

The solar panels themselves have been working well, and I have definitely seen a price break in my electricity bill.
However, there were a few hiccups in my interactions with ReNu that caused some frustration. The issues were resolved, but a couple of issues could have been avoided with a bit more care and better explanation.
During installation, there was an issue with my power being restored that required calling in a more experienced tech to resolve. I then lost my internet connection for a day and a half because the install tech rewrapped the wire too tightly, and I had to wait for my ISP to be able to send their own service tech out to diagnose and resolve that issue. As I work from home, the loss of internet was a bigger problem.
Additionally, when I signed on to purchase the solar panels, I was told there was a cash incentive promotion that would be paid out upon completion of the project. The salesperson I spoke with did not explain that this included further action on my part. So I have been waiting for over 6 months to receive this incentive, not knowing that I needed to take another step on my part. After emailing/calling repeatedly over those 6 months, I finally received explanation that I needed to provide reviews/referrals in order to receive the incentive. Lesson learned here that, even if there are 15 documents to sign, make sure to read the fine print. Especially on promises of cash back.

I had an amazing experience with Renu solar company everyone that I worked with was super friendly and nice. The crew did an amazing job it didn’t take them too long everything was installed very professionally. They also helped answer all the questions in detail explained how everything worked since this was my first time getting solar for my house. There’s a significant decrease in our electric bill. I‘m very happy with my decision to go solar.

My review of Renu Solar is limited to one person in particular. Our account manager, Sean Toohey, continues to go above and beyond to ensure all of my questions and concerns have not only been addressed in a timely fashion, but also acted upon. He is professional and personable, and a bright star on their team.
