This company is a scam! When my furnace heater stopped working, they denied my claim saying that I did not have a maintenance contract in place. I replace the filters every three months myself, but they said this needs to be done by a licensed contractor. I canceled after one year.
You get what you pay for, most of the other reviews are one star with an overall average of 2.3. It would be a lot less if a zero star was possible. I wish I had checked this site before I signed up.

Absolutely the worst warranty company I’ve ever dealt with.
Yes, they claim to have 24/7 customer support, but it doesn’t matter when nothing actually gets done. They promise repairs within 2 days, yet one of my claims has been open for over a month with zero progress.
The technicians they send are clearly not experts. For my garage repair, the technician did an incomplete job, misdiagnosed the issue, and left the work unfinished. The claim was never updated correctly, and I’ve been stuck in a loop ever since.
Every time I call customer service, I get the same useless response: “Please give us 2–3 days.” Those 2–3 days never end. On top of that, they have no proper record-keeping system—every follow-up requires me to explain the entire story from scratch like it’s the first time I’m calling.
There are no supervisors who seem to track open tickets, no one who takes ownership, and no accountability across the board. This company is all promises and no action. Truly a frustrating, time-wasting experience. I would give zero stars if I could.

OVER A MONTH PASSED WITH THEM TELLING ME THEY CANT FIND A TECH IN MY AREA. THEY CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TOLD ME I COULD HIRE ANYONE I WANTED TOO, EVEN OF THEY WERE NOT LICENSED. I IMMEDIETELY NEW THEY WERE LYING. I FINALLY CALLED A TECH MYSELF AND GOT AN APPT IMMEDIETLEY. THEY NEVER CALLED LIKE THEY SAID, AND LIED SAYING THEY WERE CONTACTING TECHS EVERYDAY FOR ME. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THEY OPERATE OR ALLOWED TO CONTINUE. I AM GOING A STEP FURTHER AND IM CONTACTING AN ATTORNEY. THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE OUTED, AND IM GONNA BE THE ONE TO DO IT!!!

For your own sake, steer clear of Select Home Warranty. We bought the Platinum package and were told that all appliances would be covered. After two years of paying for this plan, we filed our first claim for a leak in our refrigerator.
After two days of dealing with extremely poor customer service, a technician finally came out. We paid the $67 service fee, and the technician did nothing.
A day and a half later, we received an email saying the claim was denied because the “dispenser” is not covered under the plan — even though our claim had nothing to do with the dispenser. After multiple calls to customer service, explaining that they misidentified the issue, we got nowhere.
We’re now planning to cancel the policy and request a refund for the unused portion. Terrible customer service and a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this company.

This company is a scam. Stay away, they don’t pay for damages. I needed an ice repair on my fridge. They said it wasn’t covered. I cancelled my warranty and they took 75 dollars from my checking acct.it without my approval as a cancellation I don’t know how these crooks continue to prey on the public. DO N O T do business with these scammers,!,,,,,,,,,,,

Warranty offers no value. We bought a warranty to help protect against significant repair expenses in the future. Last two claims we have made has either been denied or they offered a very small reimbursement for expenses. If you make a claim for anything significant they will come back and say it is normal wear and tear. We had a furnace fan go out and they denied the claim for a $800 repair. The tech we ended up have repair it said he does work for warranty companies and this would be covered by any of them he has worked with. We had a clothes washer go out and they said the repairs cost more than replacement so they gave us $100 (minus $45 service fee so $55) to replace our $1,100 clothes washer. Every time I try to call them on it my call just disappears into the phone abyss. It has been a big waste of money and waste of time.

Buyer Beware! All a buyer can expect from this company is a rejected claim. The money you give is nothing but a gift to them. I have had one claim rejected after another since, 'joining," or better said, being taken. Latest example, my Air Conditioning in Phoenix AZ, and it's hot here, when they had a contractor sent out to identify the problem on my air conditioning, which was clearly identified as a compressor gone bad, the company denied the claim, writing up the problem up as an electrical issue. Why? So they could and did refuse coverage. Trouble is, I know a little about AC systems as a former Engineering Officer in the US Navy. You see, when a compressor goes bad, it causes an electrical short or grounding failure as a fail safe to let you know it has failed and is the problem. The mechanical compressor has been shown to be bad by this. Already knowing this, I verified this with the contractor they sent out, which he confirmed verbally, backed up with a copy of the actual report he sent to Select stating the issue was a bad compressor, identified by the short it caused. Cut and dry! They had to fix it per their contractor's own report! But instead, this was but one more of the multiple rejections I paid for in good faith only to be treated like an ignorant chump by Select, who then informed me all decisions are final, in very hard to understand broken English, as no one there seems to be able to speak it. My decision to cancel and spread the word is also final. Don't get taken by these thieves!

I cancelled my two 6-year Select Home Warranty contracts early and was shocked to receive only $34 back from over $4,350 paid. They inflated the “daily rate,” double-deducted service costs, and ignored one contract entirely. Their own math contradicts earlier letters, and they kept calling after I asked for written contact only. My BBB complaint remains unresolved — use caution before buying.
If others experienced inflated refund deductions or ignored cancellation requests, please consider filing with the NJ Consumer Affairs Office — they handle Select Home Warranty cases directly.

I signed up for Select Home Warranty yesterday. After reviewing the fine print I decided I wanted to cancel in part due to deprecated value (how is this determined?). I called them back to cancel within 24 hours. After being on the phone for over 45 minutes and recording the conversation, they informed me that a supervisor has to call me back at some later time to complete the cancelation.
This company functions like a SCAM. Please read the fine print and understand that any and all decision on what Select pays out is at their whim.
Any reputable company would not make this this difficult to cancel within their very small 24 hour cancelation window.

Simply horrible. I have been with this company for over 2 years with 2 separate contracts. They will not fix your items but give you a depreciated value to purchase another unit ($100). To get out of your monthly contract you will be charged $75 even if you have paid your monthly fee. I could not find them on BBB but a class action lawsuit needs to be put in place.
