This is a very bad company they depreciate your item and will only give you a tiny amount for you to replace it. I changed to them 18 months ago because my previous company would not let me upgrade to a more energy efficient product but they picked a very good replacement for a hot water heater that was 12 years old and I was very satisfied.
My neighbor went to select on my recommendation and went she had a problem with her 10 year old dryer and the repairman said it needed to be replaced Select depreciated it to $185 and would not replace the dryer only pay her. What a horrible company I am looking for a new one in a hurry because all my appliances are 14 year old except for the hot water heater

This company is a scam, complete scam. I warned the salesman that they were listed as a scam in the internet. I took a chance (big mistake because he spoke fluent english) and 4 months later my microwave went on the blink (literally). The screen had a blinking light. A new replacement is worth $2000. My call for service went to India and he spoke poor english. I all understood was $95 but he was not clear. I believe he said he would email me the details. He never did. I called 3 days later because I never got that email. I called again and got the same Indian fella and made him work for his english and finally understood all they would pay me is $95 because it would be too expensive to fix. They never knew my model. I called again and the customer service person spoke poor english and they transferred me to a female indian with poor english. I struggled communicating with her because her english was not well. I said to just refund my policy of $475. I had a company come out and fix it for $95 (my money). Still waiting to see if they pay out. Meanwhile i will file with the appropriate authorities to further this fraud.

Sure signing up was easy - guy was nice. Now try and use it! I'd give it 0 stars if I could. My dryer started making obscenely horrible screeching noises. I try to log in with my email - no account found. I call - they have no record. I go to my credit card statement where they totally charged me and told them the date, the reference number and surprise surprise, they find me. I file the claim. I am promised a call in two days - no call. I call again. God forbid I speak to someone who speaks English. Claim was closed - I told him I did not close the claim. He submits a new one and tells me I could go online. Well I would if I could log in - my email was not on record - yet they had emailed me plenty in the sign up process.
I get an email - claim denied. I call - since the dryer is drying clothes its not covered - i say but why do you want to wait until it breaks? It is not functioning as it should. Why would you want me to wait until it malfunctions, with a worse case scenario it catches on fire? I ask for supervisor. Nope. They will send a message for a supervisor to call me. I will get a call the next day. Next day - no call. I call again, oh tomorrow. Nope no call. I call again, and raise holy heck and low and behold I get a call. The guy kept repeating the same thing - almost like out of a script - the machine is functioning so no problem
I respond - saying but waiting until the machine is broken will probably cost more than fixing it at the first sign of a problem, correct? He says yes. I say ok, so if I get a repair person out here and they find a problem will you pay? He says only if it is not related to the noise???? Huh? I start the dryer and make him listen - he says yes it doesn't sound right but it still is not covered. And round and round we went.
I told him - when I've purchased appliances, I buy the extended warranty - and I've called when there is a noise or something seems off, and the repairs are covered. I ask him why this is not the same way. Wait for it - as long as its working, its fine.
Finally I say fine I will play your game, get my own person here and see how it goes. I am not expecting much of anything.
I am now educated in home warranties and know what questions to ask. They keep sending me texts to renew. Boy are they nuts.
Good luck out there!

Select Home Warrant is in breach of contract on 2 occasions. The first claim they failed to provide a technician per contract, and when I found my own technician SHW would not cover the cost of repair as describe in the contract. The second claim SHW just said, "your problem is not covered under contract" when in fact is clearly is. Select Home Warranty is a scam stealing premiums from the customers. Now I have to file a small claims law suit against them. My recommendation is to not use Select Home Warranty

I had 2 claims. The first one was with my water pipe going to my shower was leaking through my wall. After a week going by they said they didn’t have a contractor. I have to pay for one then get reimbursed, which could take up to 30 days.the 2nd one said I didn’t sign up for a freezer although I talked to the salesman and thought I got everything with the platinum plan. So I decided to cancel called the number after 20 minutes on hold I get to the cancellation department and was advised that there is a $75 cancellation fee.

We went with Select Home Warranty because of the cost and the promises. It was a big mistake.
The customer service is non-existent, the website is less than useless for tracking claims, and the hoops you have to jump through to speak with an actual person are ridiculous. If I could rate it zero stars, I would.

Literally the worst company I have ever dealt with.
They denied every claim I've made. They will never pay.
The vendors that come to the house to take a look are on board with the warranty company and give you issues as well. They put in a description that's not accurate so the claim will be turned down. It's all a SCAM!!!! DO NOT USE!!

If I could give them a zero I would. They are the worst company that I have dealt with. They will low ball you on everything they can, you have to submit multiple warranty repair requests, and generally will take every opportunity to screw you over. DO NOT USE THEM. It is better to just save the money because they will do whatever they can to make sure that you do not get any meaningful resolution to your issues.

Don't waste your money, they find any reason to deny your claim. Customer service people just repeat the same line and try to keep you from talking to supervisors.

I had a deeply frustrating experience with this warranty company. I had a plumbing stoppage issue that, under normal circumstances, a local plumber could have fixed for just $150. Instead, I ended up paying $300. I endured four long months of constant back-and-forth with unhelpful and dishonest customer service representatives, whose lack of professionalism made an already stressful situation feel even worse. Finally, I canceled the policy and am waiting for the refund now.
