I’ve had a very poor experience with Select Home Warranty and would not recommend them.
Since December 27, I have contacted Select Home Warranty repeatedly regarding an issue with my coverage. I paid for the Platinum plan, which made sense given my home has major appliances and systems (washer, dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, plumbing, heater, HVAC, etc.). There was absolutely no reason for me to purchase the Gold plan.
After nearly two weeks of calls and assurances that someone would “call me back within two days,” I was finally told that I was sold the Gold plan instead. The policy was sold over the phone, so if that is true, it was clearly an error on their end. To make matters worse, my refrigerator was successfully serviced last year with no issues, which strongly suggests the policy was originally set up correctly.
Now they are claiming I had “30 days to dispute it” and that there is nothing they can do. This is unacceptable, especially given the repeated delays, lack of follow-up, and the fact that I’ve called at least 10 times trying to resolve this.
Every call results in excessive apologies but no action, no follow-through, and no accountability. Emails are not returned as promised, and issues are dragged out indefinitely.
This has been an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. Based on my experience, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a home warranty provider.

The Select Home Warranty service is far less “select” than similar products on the market. I purchased a plan, and the response to my first claim did not meet minimal expectations.
Encounter: Attempting to have an over-the-counter microwave repaired or replaced:
Initially, I was approved to receive a fraction of the cost of the microwave with no offer for installation (fine print people)!!!
When I contacted to inquire about the matter, I encountered a representative speaking to me in a tone as if he knew me (in a bad way), and as if I had not paid consistently for nearly a year
In the end, he offered me a free credit for a future service call. When I asked if it could be applied to my cancellation fee, he basically reprimanded me for canceling-eesh...
Moral of the story: Do your research (magnify the fine print). Put the monthly money you will pay this company in a savings account exclusively for home repairs until you find a people and home-friendly “select” warranty.

the initial sales call misrepresented the start coverage period so of course when my dryer started having problems it was denied and no subsequent claims on that dryer could be filed. a refrigerator claim was denied because the icemaker wasn't covered. a dishwasher claim was denied because it was found to be a "maintenance" issue even though it was less than a year old and the drain pump went out. Everything, so far is found to NOT be covered. They can call something/anything a "maintenance" issue to escape paying a claim. This company very misrepresents itself and what is covered. It is a HUGE ripoff and scam.
They spelled my last name and property address wrong again and again. I requested my cancelation refund. Customer service gave me runaround with three different representatives. I paid for five years warranty lady June 2025. Refund is $700.00!
The absolute worst home warranty company to deal with in EVERY way. Its been a month I'm still waiting on a tech.
I went without hot water for 4 days before Select sent a technician to my house. I had told them that the ball valve on the hot water heater ended to be replaced. They waited until after I paid the technician the service fee to tell me that the valve was not covered. Weird since they had told me that everything was covered. Lies. Poor customer service. Company does not care. .
Washing machine not covered because there was an overload, who doesn't. have overload, the waning machine was 7 Years old and then the Dryer they will parts but labor is not covered and it is expensive. I cancelled them!!
One start because I cannot select ZERO. Despite not had a good experience with home warranties, I recently purchased another one from Select Home Warranty! This was a big mistake. Their customer services to set up the home warranty failed from day one and the story started from there. Have been trying to cancel it within the past two weeks and talked to too many representatives and supervisors and although I had the 30-day right to cancel the policy, they did every effort to resell the package to me at a lower price and convince me of not cancelling!!! Final got it cancelled after two weeks, now instead of refunding the money to my credit card, they said the refund is going to come via a check within 30 business days!!!! Even the e-mail confirmation of my cancellation is going to take 2 business day - What standard is this? There is no authority within US to what over what these scam home warranty companies do to the customer?
