One start because I cannot select ZERO. Despite not had a good experience with home warranties, I recently purchased another one from Select Home Warranty! This was a big mistake. Their customer services to set up the home warranty failed from day one and the story started from there. Have been trying to cancel it within the past two weeks and talked to too many representatives and supervisors and although I had the 30-day right to cancel the policy, they did every effort to resell the package to me at a lower price and convince me of not cancelling!!! Final got it cancelled after two weeks, now instead of refunding the money to my credit card, they said the refund is going to come via a check within 30 business days!!!! Even the e-mail confirmation of my cancellation is going to take 2 business day - What standard is this? There is no authority within US to what over what these scam home warranty companies do to the customer?

We had boiler service, and the company was able to locate a provider. Called the customer for a month. Still not able to get the issue resolved. Super reluctant to refund any month.

I am extremely disappointed with Select Home Warranty’s handling of my claim.
Claim #03441953 was raised in March 2025, and I submitted the required invoice for $400 in April 2025. Despite completing all requirements on my end, the invoice has still not been paid.
I have called Select Home Warranty more than 14 times regarding this issue. Every single time, I was told the same scripted response: “You will receive an email confirmation within 5–7 business days.”
That email never arrived.
What makes this even worse is that three different supervisors contacted me and repeated the same promise—yet no action, no update, and no payment has been made to date.
This experience reflects:
Lack of transparency
Repeated false assurances
Extremely poor customer service
No accountability or follow-through
A home warranty company should not require customers to chase payments for months after submitting valid documentation. This kind of behavior erodes trust and raises serious concerns about how claims are handled.
I strongly advise potential customers to think twice before signing up. If this issue is not resolved soon, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter further through formal complaints and consumer protection channels.

I submitted a service claim to repair our clothes dryer on 12/9/25. A technician contacted me on 12/11/25. Said based on my description of the problem with the dryer he would not come out to look at it, he would order the parts he suspected it needed. He told me the parts would come to our house. I also paid for a service call he didn't make. On Monday the 15th I texted him asking for an update of the status of the order. He never responded. I called the company customer service number and got a runaround from several people stating they got the request for parts on the 13th and that the order was approved on the 16th and they would be shipped to me. I told them that was unacceptable. My laundry is piled up and Christmas is next week and we're having guests coming. About the 6th person I spoke to said he would try to expedite the order. "TRY?" No, DO IT! I am furious with this company and will be researching other home warranty companies. I was sold what sounded like a great warranty and my first experience with a claim has been infuriating. What an inefficient and deceitful company.

My HVAC system failed during severe winter weather, with outside temperatures in the single digits. This was clearly a critical situation.
During the sales process, I was repeatedly told that in emergencies — even on weekends or holidays — a technician would be dispatched and the issue handled within 24 hours. That promise was not honored.
I called Select Home Warranty at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday. Despite multiple follow-ups throughout the weekend, the technician did not arrive until around 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
To make matters worse, the claim was denied because the failure was classified as an “electrical failure,” which Select does not cover at all. This exclusion was not clearly explained during the sales process and makes HVAC coverage largely ineffective.
The reality of the service and coverage did not match what was promised. Based on my experience, I would not rely on Select Home Warranty for critical systems like heating or air conditioning.

My claim was denied even though their tech said it was from "normal wear and tear". Since the coating on the wires degraded and touched, SHW claimed it was an electrical issue and the HVAC system repair isn't covered. It seems almost fraudulent that they can deny it because the wires got old when they are specifically supposed to cover items that are old. Then I couldn't get a supervisor to call me even though I made an appointment. There are no supervisors at the time of my appointment 2PM PST (5PM EST). Really? They've lost all credibility.

The ability to write an honest review is the only thing good I can say about this company. It truly is surprising they are allowed to operate as a business at all. I put a claim in for a hot water heater (full platinum package) it was making loud clanging and hammering sounds. I was informed they don't cover "noise". Be prepared to diagnose your problem in language that is not within the company's fine print exclusions, and there are many! Example: they will not cover a water heater that is leaking. Imagine that. I will cancel this farce. Lesson learned. It's seventy five dollars to get out of it too.

I would give zero or negative stars. I filed a claim 3 months ago. A part was ordered and their contract still hasn't installed the part. Their contractors are unreliable! I asked for a new contractor to ne assigned but they assigned my claim to the same clown! Waiting again to get a new contractor assigned. Hopefully it won't take another 3 or more months to fix.
Completely worthless home warranty company. Stay away from them!

According to their phone rep, Contract section 9.1.2 which states "This Agreement does not cover" and later gets to "installation" ..... according to them this does not just not cover installation of an appliance, for example, but also installation (or better stated, LABOR COSTS) for installing a part that might need replacing on a covered appliance. That is, they'll provide the part, you must pay the labor. I've had 2 other home warranties, both installed any repairs, and I've called both and that say this interpretation given by SELECT is odd at best.

According to select home warranty guidelines, your technician must get authorization to repair anything. When I tried to call the authorization department while the technician was at my house, I always put on hold for 15 minutes. My Plumber technician could not wait any longer because he had another job to do. He fixed the problem. After he left, the authorization department finally picked up. Now they have denied my claim and will not reimburse me. What a joke. I also spoke with a supervisor who basically said too bad.
