The installation crew did top-notch work. They showed up on time, worked efficiently, and paid attention to the details so everything looked clean and professional when finished. They also took the time to answer our questions and made sure we understood how the system works.

Overall I’m happy with the end product and it performs as expected. I’m new to solar install process and there is a lot to it. I wish there had been a bit more communication on guidance and how the process will go start to finish, what to expect, who to expect, and when. I would get phone calls and emails from people at Solar SME wanting to discuss a portion of the project I was not aware of, which was confusing. Never once was the same person at my house during the install and inspection phase. Also, my project manager changed, with no introduction, towards the end of the project.
In short:
Sales - Mike - Misleading Information: I was misled about the company’s location, initial loan terms, and the necessity of a battery.
Project Manager - Saif - Communication and Coordination: Sometimes I experienced inconsistent information, panel delivery came at midnight and left near the curb, and did not inform me of necessary documents, or who would have them, needed for the final inspection.
New Project Management - Hamza - Communication Improvement: Hamza has been more communicative, follow up-oriented, and helpful. I do wish he was a little more proactive on getting me the state grant which I received 9 months after install and after numerous emails and phone calls to secure the disbursement. This could have been avoided if the first project manager, Saif, gave me a little more information on the state grant process.

I especially want to recognize Hamza Hassan for his outstanding support throughout the project. He was always responsive, patient, and very clear in explaining every step, which made the whole process stress-free. I worked with SolarSME on my solar panel project for my home and from start to finish everything was well documented and organized. I worked with a project manager named Kevin and he was always willing to answer my questions and even take late phone calls. They do subcontract but keep track of the whole process and offer a great price. Would recommend them to anyone, our panels came out great!

Imagine everything a business can do that would be inappropriate and that was solarsme. Terrible communication, months of delays, threats to invalidate warranty and a host of other questionable activities. Interminable delays, poor organizational structure, distrustful and disrespectful salespeople. This is without a doubt the worst company I have ever done business with. As a southerner surrounded by people who don't trust the solar industry, I took a risk and this company has absolutely made me question my choices. Avoid at all cost.

I had an overall great experience with SolarSME - they offered highly-competitive rates, sales POC Amir was very informed, engaging and respondive, and the project manager Kevin did a truly fantastic job of moving my project to completion - once the design was set. Just know going in that solar isnt a "done next week" project.
Overall process took longer than I had wanted with 2 design changes decided upon (scale-up, then adding Critter Guard) during the planning-placement cycle. During this phase I went through 3 project managers during the course of 4 months (after 3mo delay due to my own HOA approval process), and my placement desires (to install more panels towards the less-efficient/less-noticeahle rear of my home) were not captured on 2 occasions, sending the design back to engineering/drafting for another week or two each time - and more HOA delays. Also, the part of country that I live in is notorious for squirrels and birds nesting underneath the solar panels and that forced yet another modification to the contract (to add Critter Guard) that took a few more weeks. Critter Guard should have been a part of the initial sales/desgin process.
Once the project got set and the design was finalized Kevin stepped in and he was one of the most responsive project manners on any major project that I have done for my home (patio, deck, bath remodel). I would call/text and if he didn't pick up immediately he would be calling back within an hour (often weekends too!). I would ask about permitting and licensing and he would give me a detailed response and even provide points of contacts for me to follow-up with. Overall I felt that he was definitely advocating for my interests to move the project forward despite a mountain of regulatory paperwork and he did a truly excellent job.
Sunnary: there's a lot of regulatory paperwork involved and the process at SolarSME seemed to slow significantly with some mid-course design changes I made - but the price SolarSME offered was highly-competitive, and the project management - once the design was set - was fantastic. SolarSME is hungry for business - a great thing - and SolarSME delivers
I am very happy with this project and would definitely use SolarSME again.

I submitted my deposit ~8k back in July for my solar project, and it’s now October. The contractor still hasn’t submitted the required documents to complete the solar permit. Very frustrating.
I’ll update this review only if they finally fix the issue.
