Terrible experience. We stopped in to purchase a dishwasher (11/23). The website stated that the unit was in stock, which is why we went to SLO. The appliance rep who helped us, later in the process informed us that the unit was not in fact in stock and would be delivered 11/29. We wanted the unit by the holiday, but the "Black Friday" price was okay-ish so we kept with it. I asked the rep if I'd also get a Veterans Discount, he replied, if I was in the system. I was not, so he printed out the invoice (I suppose to make sure he got the credit, I dunno), and sent us to the customer service desk. The young man who helped us at CS seemed to need more training, though he was polite. I advised him why we were sent to the CS desk, he seemed a bit clueless, asked a woman who was walking by, who mumbled to the young gent why we were sent there. The young gent stated, it happens often. She then turned to me and stated that I would need to download the Home Depot App in order to use the military discount. I was a bit dumbfounded that I would need the app to get a military discount when my California DL clearly states VETERAN on it! She simply said, "that's the way it is," then walked away. The young gent (cashier Kyler) then stated that he would just mark the unit down $50, which was okay as that was just a bit less than what I would have saved via the 10% military discount. However, the system wouldn't let him mark it down, and I didn't have my cell on me to respond with the many one time passcodes being sent to it. Once I got home, I went to the HD website, signed in, and went through their process to verify my vet status. This is a silly process, especially if I have the endorsement on my DL, and folks do NOT need more nonsense apps. In the end, I was not given a discount. The app and the website systems did not reflect my purchase. I contacted CS via the HD app who verified the order, but could not find reason why it was not available to me. I didn't like the process, nor did I like not getting a military discount. So, I looked at Lowe's website, found a similar unit, lower price, and they are able to deliver by the holiday (11/27) or I could p/u in Santa Maria. Oh, and better yet, they honored their military discount even on a Black Friday Deal. I contacted HD customer service via phone, spoke to a Tabitha (polite) and cancelled the order. I'm still waiting on the confirmation email she stated I'd receive, and she stated it would take 3-5 days for credit. We shall see.
I didn't like the Home Deport process, and obviously their system is "suspect" at best. We don't shop there often as we like to support our smaller local hardware stores, but this experience will probably keep us from ever going there again.

Had a very pleasant experience at their store today 11/17 and was very pleased with the service. I had a problem while trying to get an item price matched but after talking to Sandra she was a great help and got it settled. Great store!

What can I say other than it's home Depot. Don't expect to have someone who works there following you around showing you everything like they are your personal assistant. They got stuff to do. If you need help you will have to go find an orange shirt and ask for help. They will gladly help you but again, they got stuff to do or they get chewed out by management. So you're not likely to have an orange shirt come up and ask if you need help. You want low prices on the materials you need well they got balance those low prices some how to make a profit. Less workers....lol.....
Couple things to remember
1. When you go to pick up a custom or online order be sure to check out the product thoroughly before you leave. If you leave, discover damage and try to return it they won't take it back.
2. Sign up for a pro extra account. It's easy and free. Once you have done this you punch in your phone number before checkout and receipts will be stored digitally on your pro extra account. That way if you lose your paper receipt you can just login to your pro extra account on the home Depot website and bam! All your receipts are there to view and print.
3.always buy 20% more than what you need. Low prices means the quality is going to be in the mid range at best. Especially building materials. If you're placing your order online get 30% more than you need because they don't go through each board and pick out the best. They just grab how many you need and get it ready for you to pick up. You will get some bad
boards.
4. If you want a lot of help I suggest going early in the morning. That's when they got a lot of people on the floor. Evening you go when you don't want to deal with the crown of people but they don't have as many workers on the floor and a lot of them have stocking quotas they need to fulfill. So cut them some slack.
5. Don't show up the last 15 minutes before closing to place or return merchandise at the customer service & returns part of the store like I do. They won't be very happy. Tip: if you do be sure to bring a Starbucks gift card for like $5. That makes them very happy.
6. Don't be shy. If you need help go track down an orange shirt. Otherwise, you could be standing there for a long time waiting for someone to help you.

Very beautiful store in a gorgeous Spanish style shopping mall.....a real asset for San Luis Obispo.
Person in flooring was very pleasant and informative and spent a lot of time with me. Was honest with pros and cons regarding costs to put new flooring
Into a home in the area.

I've been a loyal PRO customer at Home Depot for years and have generally had positive experiences, leaving several good reviews along the way. However, I recently had a disappointing interaction with Amber at the San Luis Obispo store. I called to ask a simple question about a promotion I received via email, but Amber was rude and dismissive in her response. She made me feel like I was wasting her time, repeatedly telling me to just come to the store without offering any assistance or clarification. As a customer, I simply wanted to ensure the product I planned to buy was eligible for the promotion. Amber's lack of helpfulness and poor attitude do not reflect the level of service I’ve come to expect. If customer service isn't her priority, perhaps she should consider a different role. This was a frustrating example of what customer service shouldn't be.

It's a decent store when it comes to finding product, but the customer service and lack of professional knowledgeable people can be frustrating. At times. I give it four stars for availability and take one away because of their lag of professionals readily accessible function. You think she's trying to do the same thing to you?

Mostly a great store. Often hard to find someone when you need help in the aisles (except for plumbing - those guys are on point). As a customer, I'd really like to see more effort in the paint department. The employees don't seem like they are very well-supported.

Don’t use Home Depot SLO for home delivery if you want your delivery in a timely manner! They habitually do NOT have delivery orders ready for the delivery person to pick up! They regularly cost us money because orders are cancelled because THEY don’t have the items picked

I just came to this store for a warranty issue with a Milwaukee impact drill, tool is 100 percent under warranty, store was empty, there was 2 people working at the return desk, made me and my coworker wait, finally Luis attended us, I explained the problem and he did not want to pull the order. He said that just by looking at my tool that he could tell that it was because ware and tear and did not want to pull up my order. He said that he was not going to be able to help… to call Milwaukee. I had to asked him for their phone number because he has the worst customer service I have dealt with.
