Our World Energy

If anyone from Our World Energy (OWE), Omni Power, or the Palmetto / LightReach solar team comes to your door trying to sell you a solar system, send them away. I believed I had done enough research to avoid problems, but still ended up getting scammed.
The sole reason I agreed to the installation was because I was clearly promised that the battery storage would power my home overnight so I would not need to buy electricity from the utility at night.
Instead, the system was designed with an excessive number of panels that overproduce power during the day dumping excess energy out to the grid. At the same time, the system was installed with only a single battery that runs out after roughly an hour without sunlight during the summer. As a result, from sundown until around 9:00 AM, I still must purchase electricity from the utility — while also paying a high monthly solar lease.
The outcome is both a large lease payment and an ongoing electric bill, which is the exact opposite of what was represented during the sales process. This was either a con, or this team is extremely incompetent at engineering design. Either way, stay away for your own good.
The sales team was extremely pushy to rush the lease execution. After installation, my original contacts disappeared. Over the following nine months, customer service rotated me through 13 different “project managers,” none of whom resolved the issue. I was ultimately told the system could not be modified to provide the missing storage — even if I paid for it — which cannot be true.

In stark contrast to the sales, design, and leasing jokers, the OWE field crew that installed the system was very competent and professional.

We had a great experience going solar with Our World Energy. From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and responsive. They walked us through the entire process from design and permitting to installation and final inspection and made everything easy to understand.

The installation crew was efficient and respectful of our home, and the communication throughout the project was excellent. Any questions we had were addressed promptly, and timelines were clearly explained.

We’re very happy with our decision to go solar and highly recommend Our World Energy to anyone considering making the switch. It’s been a smooth and positive experience overall!

How can I start on explaining the amazing job Nikki has done for us thru out this whole process. She's been very attentive with our system and making sure it was up and running perfectly. DO NOT go with this company. The sales rep was great and so was the install team. The company itself and their “customer service” are absolutely terrible. Their system (Tesla battery) failed and in their contract they would reimburse you if it’s on their side. They denied it and tried to gaslight me, then talk about the production of the panels and how good they were doing. That wasn’t the issue. THEIR own engineer confirmed it was the battery overheating.

Then the battery they installed started making a loud ping noise. It continues to do so every minute. I let them know and again, their “customer service” said they checked with Tesla and it’s not possible to do that. Well it sure as hell is because it’s making that noise and I sent them multiple video proofs.

They will also text you at 4am which is against TCPA hours.

Now I get to waste time with an attorney because this company has no integrity and is hot garbage. 0/10 would not recommend.

I’m writing this review as a neighboring homeowner who was directly affected by work performed by Our World Energy. While installing solar panels for my neighbor, the company dug in my yard to place a new electrical box that connects to the city utilities. They dug for several days and created a massive hole - over 7 feet deep and more than 8 feet long; including directly under our palm tree, risking damaging its roots.

The hole remained open for over a month and was only loosely covered with boards, which created a serious safety hazard, especially because we have small children who play in our yard. When the company finally filled the hole, it was not properly compacted or finished. After recent rain, the area has sunk again and turned into a large, deep sinkhole.

I have contacted the company repeatedly over the past month, clearly explaining the safety issues and the fact that this involves electrical infrastructure. Despite acknowledging my concerns, no one has come out to inspect or repair the damage, and the sinkhole continues to worsen.

I am writing this review to warn others that, based on my experience, the quality of their work has been poor, and there appears to be no urgency in correcting their mistakes—even when it affects a homeowner’s daily living and poses safety risks. I hope this issue is eventually resolved, but the lack of timely response has been extremely disappointing.

Update: After more than two months, the issue was finally resolved, but the experience has been a complete nightmare. The company’s communication was consistently poor and confusing, and I was repeatedly told there was nothing they could do because of ‘city codes’. It took persistent follow-up and a threat to hire my own contractor and pursue reimbursement through legal channels before any action was taken. Hopefully, the box does not sink again.

Elle was our project coordinator; she is an outstanding employee. She kept us up to date step by step. Her communication skills are an asset to your company.
The workers are all excellent, qualified, and people of integrity.
We are very satisfied with a job well done.

Our world energy installed my solar panels. They showed up on time their installation only took a few hours, and it was great. Elle, my coordinator kept me up-to-date on everything through the whole process. They made it super easy.

This solar project didn't break the bank. Jazz was a great guy. Easy to work with, even when I got frustrated and wasn't too nice one time. He was very patient as we are seniors. 5 *****
