Ending up in a profession can happen because the trade is handed down from generation to generation. Or, you could have a passion for something and make it your profession. The latter is the story behind Victors.

As a young man, Victor Smolyanov, the owner of Victors Home Solutions, was given the opportunity to choose any profession he wanted. His father, Vladimir, taught his children by his example. He worked hard to put each of his kids through college and wanted to give them opportunities he didn’t have growing up in Ukraine.

The Smolyanov family is deeply rooted here in Michigan. Even though Victor’s father didn’t move his family from Ukraine until 1996, eight of his father’s 12 siblings already lived here.

During the first summer that Victor spent tearing off roofing, picking up debris and hauling materials up the ladder for his father, he fell in love with roofing. It was immediately apparent Victor had inherited his father’s love of roofing, prideful skill and work ethic.

Victor was driven to learn all he could from both his father and fellow crew members to grow his experience and expertise. Shortly thereafter, in 2008, Victor started his own roofing contractor business, and brought his top fellow crew leader to be the foreman on his roofing projects. His father joined Victor in growing the business, providing training for new crews, and Victor’s brother, Vlad, has also joined the team.

Victors Home Solutions has been in business for nearly 15 years now. No matter how many employees he has added along the way, just as true today, having pride in your workmanship and doing what’s right – even when no one else is looking – is a hallmark of character at every level in the culture at Victors.

It is that same spirit and passion for a job well done that has propelled Victors’ evolution, offering additional home improvement solutions to its customers. It’s all about serving and taking care of people as you would family, and that is the true heritage and legacy of this family business.
