Buying a house can be exciting, but also kind of scary. Back in 1971, we decided to make that process a little less scary by founding the home warranty industry. Before American Home Shield, there was nothing to protect homeowners from the expensive and unexpected repair and replacement costs that are inevitable with home ownership. Things like having the stove or washer stop working at the worst possible time or having the A/C quit in the heat of summer. We decided to change all of that and founded the home warranty industry.

They consistently send out technicians that don't fully solve your problem. Twice we've put in an order in the past 2 months where someone came, diagnosed the problem and essentially told us to fix it. Most recently it was a water problem where someone came, didn't fix it, told us what to do, we did it and the problem still wasn't fixed. When I tried to get them to come back out they couldn't come for 5-6 more days, which means I'd have that many days with water in my basedment. I called AHS and spent hours on the phone, every rep I talked to was very udnerstanding and agreed that is unacceptable, but none of them actually did anything about it. It was just super obvious they actually don't care about their customers at all.

I am a new customer of AHS, and I had to request a repair to my furnace over this last bitter cold snap. The app was easy to use and my request was assigned immediately. I needed to correct my repair request and called customer service where I spoke to an individual who assisted me and provided me additional information. I am very pleased with the support that I received along with the service from the HVAC contractor. I have recommended AHS to several friends and family!

I've been with American Home Shield since December '24. I filed my first claim with them this past January. They responded quickly. My toilet was leaking and the plumbing pipes under my kitchen sink were spilling water. When I submitted my claim, they immediately contracted a company to fix the issues. The company called me the next day and scheduled a technician to come to my house the next day in the morning.
Just as scheduled, the technician arrived, inspected the two issues and fixed them both in under 30 minutes. It was fast and the work was professionally done.
I'm happy so far with my experience with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield is the best warranty out there. During a recent repair of our refrigerator, the process was smooth, the technicians were knowledgeable and professional, and our refrigerator was fixed completely. In fact, even though they replaced our fan and motor, the ice maker (which had not been working for a few years) started working. Everything is running smoothly and quietly. I love the fact that the process was hassle free and we had complete resolution our issue. And the technicians knew exactly what they were doing. Thank you

I have been assigned to a repair company that is no longer working. When the contracted plumbing company did not contact me, I called them as instructed by American Home Shield. The plumber's phone number states they are not in service. American Home Shield has no further contact info for them. I have tried using chat to get ahold of American Home Shield. I was disconnected after waiting over 20 minutes. When I started to chat again, I was told it would be a longer wait. After another long wait, a representative named Daina asked for my address and name. I gave it. She then promptly left the chat, so I'd have to start again. These waits totalled over an hour. I called American Home Shield and was told the wait would be over 40-50 minutes to talk with someone. I was given the option to have them call me back. I did not receive a call. I tried to cancel my contract as it is no longer needed since I can't get assistance. I was unable to do this. I am so incredibly frustrated with this company! The use of AI in place of customer service renders it lacking and unusable. I used to love this company so this is very disappointing. I can't recommend it to anyone! I'll be spending a good part of tomorrow trying to get my money returned and find a plumbing company to fix my repair. This has been a costly, time consuming problem.

They contracted out customer service agents to a foreign country and their agents are VERY difficult to understand. They have no service providers in our county. I've called them 3 times trying to get them to authorize me to hire a service provider myself, but they continue stalling and haven't issued an authorization nor have they found a provider in 4 days. Horrible company. I would never buy their warranty again and I certainly would never recommend them.

Regardless of what you read on Trust Pilot, If you read the overall internet review response generated by Google AI, you will see that AHS is a highly unethical company operating out of Tennessee with call centers in Africa, Philippines, and likely Mexico with a myriad of language barriers and “department transfers” impeding communication.
The response to actual service is amateur and basically inept if not fraudulent. The “contract” itself is ambiguous and misleading, also bordering fraud.
Overall it is a complete waste of money and time. Even the cancellation of a policy is overwhelming and comes with hidden fees.
Considering some of the consumer protection laws existing in Tennessee, this company should be investigated by Tennessee state regulators.
For consumers that have been able to access actual warranty service, consider yourselves lucky. For anyone who may consider purchasing a policy, RUN!!!
