I went for the first time yesterday after my physical therapist friend recommended this place to help with my chronic back pain. Facilities are basic, but still clean well maintained and the staff was friendly and helpful when I had questions. The hot tub and sauna were HOT so I could only handle a few minutes at a time in each area (another patron told me this is normal for first timers and that I'd get used to it over time - I appreciated the honesty and was happy to know I wasn't being a baby, haha), but they provide buckets of cold water to help you cool off. I ended up renting an extra towel and dipping it in the cold water to help cool myself down faster. All in all a nice experience for the price, but I do wish they had more women's days because it did get crowded towards the end of my visit.

Today was my first time and probably my last time as I had a mixed experience at Lake Steam Baths today and wanted to share it honestly for anyone considering a visit.
On the positive side, the front desk staff was welcoming and kind. I arrived around 1:10 PM and was given a thoughtful tour by Sky, who was lovely and made me feel comfortable upon arrival. The facility itself has a very old-school feel, which didn’t bother me at all. I came specifically to relax, enjoy the steam room, hot tubs, and quiet atmosphere.
Unfortunately, the experience took a sharp turn around 3 PM. While in the steam room with several other guests present, I witnessed explicit sexual behavior between two individuals who were masterbating each other. This made me extremely uncomfortable and immediately changed the tone of the visit for me. This is a shared wellness space intended for relaxation and restoration, and that kind of activity felt completely inappropriate and disruptive to the environment. I wanted to just hurry up and leave.
Additionally, there were moments where quiet expectations weren’t respected in the pools, which added to the sense that the space wasn’t being actively monitored or guided to maintain a calm, restorative atmosphere which was a bummer.
I want to be very clear: my discomfort had nothing to do with who anyone is, but rather what was happening in a public, shared wellness space. Any sexual behavior (regardless of who is involved) would have been equally unwelcome in a place meant for relaxation.
Because of this, I ended my visit early and left feeling unsettled rather than restored and I can’t get that god awful image out of my head. While there were aspects I appreciated, the lack of enforcement around boundaries and atmosphere significantly impacted my experience. I’ve given this a 3 out of 5, but I personally wouldn’t return.
I hope management considers clearer guidelines and more active oversight to ensure all guests feel safe and comfortable.

Older, semi-traditional Russian spa. No one swatted me with leaves, but had an awesome body scrub from Sergio.
Hot sauna, small steam room, hot tub, and a cold tub with shower, plus a quiet area to relax.
While aged, it’s very clean, and the staff were super friendly and actively straightened things up and kept it clean.
For the price, a great place if you would like the traditional sauna experience. It may not be the Ritz, but I don’t think you can go wrong with a visit.

I had a great experience at Lake Steam Baths. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel so welcome and comfortable. The space has this wonderful old-world charm simple, clean, and peace. You can tell it’s been cared for with pride over the years. My massage with Matt was awesome. I will be back.

Great relaxing place. Wish they had guys night every night but they do not. Please make sure to check the website for the days they are open and what night is which. Would visit again.
They have a wet sauna, dry sauna, hottub and lots of areas to just relax in the hot atmosphere.

I recently moved to Denver and decided to try lake steam tonight for men’s night. I was a little nervous as I’ve never been to a bath house. The staff were so friendly, gave me a tour and advised of proper etiquette while in the spa. The sauna was amazing, the hot tub and steam room were also great. I loved the eucalyptus in the steam room and all the areas to relax and unwind. I’ll be back, it was so relaxing and really helped with my muscle tension. Thanks guys, what a great place!

I like this place. Great place to unwind and decompress. My favorite part is the big dry sauna. They also have a steam room, whirl pool and showers. They offer massage at the lowest price I've seen in the city for a good legit massage. Since the new ownership there has been good improvements without loosing its old school vibe.

I was looking for a Korean bathhouse in Denver. This came up because of the high reviews. Not traditional Korean. Meaning nude is optional which is a plus. Was not aware that it's gender-specific depending on the days, a little disappointing after making the drive. The staff was completely sweet and helpful trying to make recommendations that were local to try to enjoy some water on a hot day. Available parking. The location was very well kept safe. Definitely visit on a gender-specific day. Call ahead.

This sauna was okay, but not what I expected at all. I’m a tourist from Australia and wanted to check it out, but I wasn’t really impressed. I also had a massage, and the therapist gave me a head massage—which I really don’t like. I wish I had been able to tell them not to. The ending of the massage wasn’t satisfying either.

As a 75 old who has been coming to Lake Steam for 60 years, I've seen a lot of change there. To that extent, I will say that in those years, I have never felt more at home with the current group who oversee this piece of Denver history.
Parsing through the reviews, I can't help but feel for them in this current day and age and climate of online vitriol that seems to pervade society these days. The negative reviews, to me, speak more of the writers than the staff who work tirelessly to ensure a comfortable experience of all of their guests.
The recent updates are nothing short of miraculous considering what state the place was in a mere three years ago. It's fresh and modern without losing its historical feel. That's important to those of us who have been lifetime customers. We don't often like change, but Lake Steam has done a fantastic job in mixing the new with the old.
I would like to speak to those out there who, from the safety of your keyboards and, in the shadows, to just stop the constant complaining and low remarks that are unbecoming of your own human spirit. If you don't have anything kind to contribute, say nothing at all. Move on.
Personally, I utilize Lake Steam twice a week and have gotten to know many people, most of who are wonderful, kindred spirits. However, I have also known quite a few who disrespect the facility, staff and overall mission of what the place is about: Health and wellbeing. A place to heal, reflect and socialize. Those who fail to see that, fail to truly experience the beauty of Lake Steam.
Denver is fortunate to have such a facility and staff who truly love its historic halls. Keep your chins up, guys. You are the magic that is Lake Steam.
