Benjamin was my service expert for my routine natural gas boiler maintenance. He explained in detail what he did and his findings. I had set up an appointment for annual maintenance of my Weil-McLean ultra 230 high-efficiency condensing boiler. The boiler was originally installed by Gold Medal six years ago and was a serviced by them annually under a maintenance contract since the original installation. The owners’ manual calls for disassembly of the combustion chamber annually and cleaning when necessary. The service technician, Dennis Salvador, was the first to actually recommend this and to do the cleaning if necessary, which was likely after six years. During his initial visit, he determined the cleaning was necessary, but had to order a cleaning kit from Weil-McLean and return a week later. The kit runs around $800 but includes a number of critical components that degrade with time such as the igniter, Heat shields, sensors and gaskets critical to the safe and reliable operation of the unit. Dennis was competent, friendly and polite. He arrived at the scheduled time and finished the labor intensive job in only a few hours.

We refitted our HVAC system with a more robust air filter and had to move & replace old ductwork. Dennis Salvador did a great job outlining the work, providing the estimate and then coming back to do the install. Really appreciate Dennis’ professionalism and by Gold Medal in general.

He spent over 20 minutes with me listening to my issue and advised me of several options.
He wore shoe protection (on and off every time he left the house).
Joe was most courteous and respectful and very knowledgeable.
I got what I wanted; he spent time tutoring me on the app use and didn’t leave until all my questions were answered.

Not only was the installation seamless, but Rabi also took the time to walk me through the best solutions for my system and explain how to get the most out of the new technology.

The Gold Medal salesman was nearly impossible to get a hold of throughout the process—sometimes disappearing for days and not responding until I called the office to get him to call me back. He also sent me the wrong information and quotes multiple times.

We finally finalized the deal and install date, and at first everything seemed fine—until two days later. My house started heating up, even though the thermostat was set to 74. I went outside and found the condenser completely off, soot on the panel, and part of my siding melted. I shut off the breaker and called Gold Medal immediately.

A technician didn’t arrive until 9 PM, told me it wasn’t a fire risk with the breaker off, and said the office would follow up. The office scheduled and then canceled my next appointment, saying it needed to be handled by their install team. Hours went by before I had to call again. Eventually, they sent a senior technician who found a refrigerant leak and major electrical mistakes in the install. He fixed the refrigerant issue and cleaned up the mess, but told me a third-party electrician needed to fix the wiring.

Despite being told I’d be contacted “asap,” I waited another day with no call until I followed up yet again. Finally, on day three, an electrician came and repaired the wiring. Since then, the unit has worked fine—but the entire process was a nightmare.

I paid in full on install day, yet I spent three days chasing down updates, without AC, during a heat wave. Gold Medal couldn’t coordinate their own people, and I was the one constantly following up.

If you want something installed correctly the first time and without all the headaches, I would not recommend Gold Medal Service.

Mike H. Took such great care of us on a Saturday. His work was very neat, clean and fast. We had a small section of pipe that needed to be fixed in a very old house and he just looked at it and took care of it with no hassles.
