The service here is non-existent. They take your money and then disappear. I had solar installed by them about 2 years ago and have developed a leak in my roof, resulting in water damage in my attic and master bedroom ceiling. They came out once to "fix" it. All they did was send a couple of what seemed like day-laborers, and they "had to go to Home Depot to get the stuff needed" to fix it, and (as I found out later) placed superficial caulking where they are bolted to the roof. I painted the ceiling in my master bedroom, assuming the issue was resolved. It was not, with more water stains appearing after the next heavy rains.
My calls to the company have ranged from "Someone will call you" to "we don't do residential work anymore" to no answer at all and no return calls. I have emailed them, having to resort to contacting sales, with a few brief responses, not answering most of my questions, still no return calls from any type of management, and still no resolution. To add to this, we have had torrential downpours the last several days here in San Antonio, with more predicted.
I am still waiting to hear back - truncated email exchange below with latest -

I have not received a call from anyone regarding resolution.
I still have not spoken to any type of management.
What about the attic inspection for any other leaking and needed repair?

I did receive a call from a “roofing company” that is owned by a Mike? I then had a visit from a representative from that roofing company. The contractor sent out said it looks like the last work done was some sealant/caulking placed around the rail mounts very poorly. And the screws used to afix the conduit were only about an inch long and are not long enought to secure the mounts. He also mentioned that the solar panels will need to be removed in order to reach the rail mounts to seal them properly, and that in order to not void the warranty, your company will need to come onsite to remove them. Then replace them after he makes the repairs.
I still would like a phone call from some form of management in your organization to discuss, plan, and rectify the following:
- Proper removal of the solar panels - to maintain warranty
- Fixing the existing leak issues by a licensed roofing company
- Inspection of all other roof-related connections by the licensed roofing company
- Inspection of the attic for any other signs of damage by the licensed roofing company
- Proper replacement of the solar panels - to maintain warranty

Called for service in late February told had to pay service fee $275.00 for appointment so we paid and they took money, we are now in late April still have not come to service our solar panels. All calls go unanswered even given service mgr name and number, those go unanswered as well. We ended up calling another solar company hoping to get system fixed soon. However all calls to get reimbursed from Texas Solar for the (no) service result in no answer we have left several messages have also called a sales rep requesting a call about reimbursement of our payment. Getting ready to report with the Better Business Bureau and thinking of calling KENS5 TV see if they can help us. Do not use this company!!
Would give Zero rating if I could.

We got our panels in 2021 and like a broken record, they haven't kept up with their end of the deal. Our panels have been needing a cleaning for a couple of years now and as always they do not take my calls, they don't return emails, they don't call back, and they've left us high and dry when we were scheduled for a cleaning. No call, no show. I see the owner responds to some of the reviews but I'm guessing nothing happens. I've actually contacted the bank and told them of this ordeal as they're the one footing the bill. Have some dignity and take care of your customers, stop with the lip service.

Like everyone else I wish I could’ve avoided this company. Can’t even get a call back when trying to get my solar panels serviced. They have warranties they can’t even uphold such as a cleaning every 6 months. I haven’t gotten a clean in almost 2 years now. Now i’m dealing with trying to do a roof damage claim with my insurance but if i hire another company to remove and reinstall the panels it voids the warranty with these guys. So i’ve been trying to get a hold of south texas solar systems for 5 days now and get nothing but the same voicemail. Truly dissapointing company who loves to take your money but can’t even uphold their service.

South Texas Solar is great to work with while you’re spending tens of thousands of dollars to purchase and have solar panels installed. Once installed it’s a very different story. We purchased our panels from South Texas Solar a little more than 2 years ago. In their contract they provide 2 free cleanings per year…good luck getting them out that!!
Our gateway stopped responding in February this year. I contacted Enphase and they quickly sent us a replacement gateway but it needs to be installed. I contacted South Texas Solar and they scheduled me a few weeks out. I took the day off to be home and they never showed up. I called the next day and they said “oh yes we only had 3 people scheduled in your area and 2 canceled”. Ok so you just don’t show up? No home call??? Bad business! So they rescheduled me for the following week, today! I had them add my brother to their list in my area because in 5 years they’ve only cleaned his panels once. Thinking to myself, that gives them 2 people right there. So they had 4 people scheduled and my brother on stand by in case they had a cancellation. It is now 6pm and see if you can guess what happened? Yep…no call no show again!!
The customer service with South Texas Solar is terrible. If I could give zero stars I would.
I’ve contacted Enphase back and they’ve sent an email to South Texas Solar. My guess is they no longer care about the customers who aren’t spending new money with them.
Absolutely horrible!!

If it was possible to give less than one star I would. I am the General Manager of a business where we have a 125k+ system installed, and it’s been like pulling teeth to get a phone call or email answered for 6+ months regarding a maintenance service call and some guidance on some sort of application to see our solar output in real time. I have used the phrase “do you even want our money and continued business” multiple times in emails with this company.
It’s frustrating but also somewhat comforting to see this isn’t just happening to me, but basically every other person that deals with this company.

When I purchased my solar system in 2021, one of the marketing ploys was “free solar cleanings” for life. I’m not sure if that’s still part of the spiel. But if it is, don’t count on it.
I’ve been trying to schedule a cleaning for months. No one answers the phone. And on the off chance someone does, they schedule the cleaning about a month away and then never show up.
And then once it gets below 70 degrees, you are told that the panels are too fragile to clean in the cold weather.
My system works, but I’ve been extremely dissatisfied with the customer service.

I agree with, and have experienced much the same problems as, all the one-star reviews below. Cleanings don't happen; even if they agree to schedule them, they never show up. Now, my system has been down three days and counting from all I can tell, Enphase is making me do the troubleshooting, and STSS won't get someone out here until next Tuesday. We are looking into hiring an attorney now.
Update 2/24: The rating stands. The service call to replace the gateway was completely shambolic and disorganized, with the tech showing up a time I had specifically told the service coordinator I would not be available. Furthermore, the panels are still not clean and I have no idea when that will happen.

They installed my panels back in june of 2024 along with a generac generator. Which i am posting this feb 2025. Still solar not working and generator not working. I would not recommend this company. I have already got a lawyer involved with this issue. I am in oklahoma. Paying for a bunch of roof ornaments and pretty panel on my back wall and a generator to look at. The bad thing is my electricity bill is still the same and they want me to pay for all this crap too. By the time my lawey is done. They will pay for everything.

We do not recommend this company at all. We were mislead to acquire all the panels needed for 100% house energy consumption in 2021 and have not heard of them since then. No answer to calls nor emails requesting maintenance and they punctually charge the payment but the light bill stills high. Terrible costumer service. I would actually give “0” * I’m not even sure the boxes are still working right! Looking for legal assistance already.
